| Here's a fun activity to try if you are
raising caterpillars.
You will need: -one or more caterpillars, larger is better. -different types of leaves, including the plant your caterpillar is known to eat. Here's what you do: 1)Place the leaves in a box or on a table. 2)Put your caterpillars on the pile of leaves. 3)Watch what they do. Are they able to choose their food plant from all the others? Option: Try separating the leaves into piles. Place the caterpillars an equal distance from all the leaves. Are they still able to find the correct ones? Can you answer this? Why do female butterflies only deposit their eggs on certain types of plants?
